Ricky Skaggs at the Sage, Gateshead

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Well, Ricky Skaggs was amazing, and Kentucky Thunder too. Nice to see some old friends at the Sage … Kevin Tweddle, Prelude (all of them), Davey Harris, Christine Ringer and David. Interesting to hear Ros Rigsby being so complimentary about Bluegrass. Danny and myself are hard at work on this Dobro project … just Dobro and acoustic guitar. We have about five tunes in the bag and hope to start recording soon. We will probably record at Rod Sinclairs when he gets back from the Edinburgh Festival. Diary is a bit slow but Hey!!! Porters gig was poorly attended but we enjoyed the play. Danny’s family are real supporters. Thanks to Mick and Evelyn for the food and good vibes. ( Oooh bit ’60s that!!). Spoke to Ian Vardy who lives next door to my Aunt Betty in Kenton. He has a new guitar and is still writing songs. Ian was in the original Prelude line up, the succesfull one (media wise ). His songs can be heard on the old recordings still. Visit the Prelude website. There is one song in particular I remember called “I Don’t Want To Spend Another Day With You” which should have been recorded by somebody!! Jim H.

Rambling on

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Hoo man, good crack this … I can talk to the world and Eric. Enjoyed the Ravenshead gig, even if the audience were a bit bemused. Good to see Steve Hanks, Lee the drummer, and of course (or should that be coarse?) wor Tony. As usual the D.T. road to fame and Fortune is littered with potholes, but we dont mind – we enjoy the crack. I was accused of picking on Eric at Ravenshead …. Well, he asks for it really doesn’t he? Would you take him to your granny’s for tea? Thanks to Geoff Sheard for all his help and of course the staff at the hall. Our next gig is at The Real Music Club on Sat 7th July. Be nice to see you there.
