Just remembered a night in Wolfies bar in Nashville when me , Pete Wright, Brian and Irene Hume witnessed the Jamie Hartford Band with Ray on guitar. A Tele a Lab series amp ,what a player. Jamie you need him back in the band. Stuff that works ? Jamie and Ray.

Interesting times lately.. Been in touch with Dolph Ramseur of North Carolina label Ramseur records. He is releasing a cd of tracks Martin Stephenson and myself recorded on his porch in N.C. in 2002 or thereabouts. Its called “Hells Half Acre” and there are some photos of M. and myself on the porch … Down Home or what? I am playing lots of acoustic guitar and Dobro and i think it has a certain charm … you know Martin’s great songs and the sounds of passing trucks etc. I think Dolph has done a great job on this one. Artwork and everything is spot on. Check it out on the Ramseur Records website.

Diesel T. had a couple of gigs. The real music club In Swadlincote was “cool”. Neil Dalton looked after us and sent us a very insightful review. (Nice when somebody “gets it”.) Also been out gigging with Aaron Bayley. Aaron is exactly half my age (and weight probably), great singer and guitar player. His band is great and consists of Tony Davis (keyboards), Sean Taylor (bass guitar), Graham Hare (drums) … (Smithy was busy). (Joke) ………

Great to see Ian and Andrea at Swad. Me and Taity go back a few years now. Great drummer and not a bad lad either!! Danny Holmes and myself are working up a set of “Dobro “tunes … just Dobro and acoustic guitar so if you know anyone sad enough to book us please tell them to get in touch.

Wendy Saint Band played at The Ouseburn Festival last weekend , rain didnt help but Wendy and the band played on anyway. Did some recording for Rod Sinclair…he has a guitar project on the go. Lovely stuff … Paul Smith on drums and Neil Harland on double bass. Hope to get it on the website soon. Off to see Ricky Skaggs this coming Monday …. That should put me back in my box!!!!
