Opry Time …
Tuesday, September 18th, 2007Another contender for the worst album cover of all times! The heart-warming cover picture is ‘an action photo of a typical Grand Ole Opry performance’.
‘Opry Time In Tennessee’ was released in the UK in 1962 on EMI’s Stateside subsidiary label. The album featured 20 old-time breakdowns and fiddle tunes ‘live’ from the Ryman Auditorium. Actually, these are all studio performances heavily overdubbed with crowd noises, typical of many records of the time. Nevertheless a bunch of fun toons from Cowboy Copas, Chubby Wise and the Rainbow Ranch Boys, Moon Mullican, Benny Martin and the Boys, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Uncle Josh, Red Sovine and Lonzo and Oscar.
Drag up your stool, get your old flat-top on you’re gone again!
